Yoga
My teachings are highly influenced by my somatic training and also the reverberations of that through my body and nervous system. My somatic training and all other trainings since have been a deep dive into the polyvagal theory developed by Stephen Porges and it influences all my work including teaching yoga. This creates a nourishing class for the body, mind, nervous system and spirit, the whole soma. I like to call it compassionate yoga and find the space of effort of stretching ourselves in more than one way and yet respecting the nervous system, the whole soma and only taking what is given. The classes begin with the slow and gentle movements of somatic education moving practitioners into the deep space of awareness. This sense is then carried through the class as we move into the stronger yoga postures of a challenging and yet respectful nature. Somatic movements are often used to release the body in such a way as to make poses more accessible during the class and always at the end to ease into savasana. The somatic and yogic principles are held throughout the class keeping a focus on awareness of both internal release and internal strength.
Class time: Monday mornings 9.15, online only.
