Somatic Movement
These workshops an exploration into the body using the slow and delicious way of moving that we use in Somatic Movement and Feldenkrais lesssons. To find out more read here.
The workshop are always geared towards a particular pary of the body, always including the whole soma or a particular functional movement. But the bottom line is that no matter what the theme is, the expereince is about coming into the rest and digest state of the nervous system and learning how to leave more from there.

Building depth
The workshops allow for more time to be spent in the body, more time exploring and more time feeling. This gives the brain more time to absorb the sensations and also the sense of moving from the parasympathetic state that the nervous system is in. This makes integration easier so that when we move out into the rest of our daily lives we can operate from this place.
It also simply feels delicious.

Blending Somatic Movement and Movement Medicine
In these, we spend an hour on the floor with a feldenkrais lesson, come to standing and transition slowly into the dance and spend the last hour and a half in the dance.
To begin the dance after spending an hour coming deeply into and connecting with the body gives more access to staying in the body and moving freely through the dance.
Pelvic Floor workshop

I remember, when I was pregnant with my first baby being told to do my pelvic floor exercises and I had no idea what they were talking about. At the time, the advise was to interrupt your pee (which is no longer advised) as a strengthening method (which at the time was the only goal for woman, to strengthen it). I had no idea really what I was supposed to be doing or how I would know if I was doing it right. Years later, after all 3 of my babies were born, as a bonus lesson on the Somatic training I was exposed to this way of working with the pelvic floor and my mind was completely blown. I was introduced to it in a way that I could actually feel it and move it consciously this way and that, this half and that half. I experienced how it felt when the whole pelvic floor system was working together. I felt physically stable, and solid with both feet planted firmly on the floor and I felt clear in myself, in my whole self.
Since then I have explored this in much more depth and now I am bringing this into a workshop in Rathnew where we will explore the Pelvic floor system through Somatic Movement and Feldenkrais lessons. We will discover the pelvic floor in its entirety, sense it, strengthen it, release it and activate it and the muscles that work with it, in this intelligent co-ordinated system. As always this will be a nervous system reset, full of ease and comfort, respecting our limits and needs and stepping out of the busy-ness of our day-to-day lives to tune into ourselves, resource ourselves and integrate this so there is real change (if that's what you are looking for).
For men and women alike, the Pelvic Floor is so important and contrary to common theory, it is not always about strengthening it. More people have an over tight pelvic floor and therefore, releasing it is the problem. And muscles that are over tight, as you can imagine, have less ability to contract and release, less control, which is what they need to do to be functioning well. The PF muscle responds to stress by contracting and is responsible for so much more than peeing. It is crucial in our stability and balance and much more. So if you need to work with your pelvic floor or if you could do with spending time in a nurturing environment, restoring and resourcing, this might be a fit for you.
